Which system for scars?
A scar can be perceived as cosmetically disturbing, which can have psychosocial consequences. Sometimes it's not just a disfiguring area; a scar can also cause other problems, such as itching, reduced mobility, infection, and pain. So, there are plenty of reasons why someone might find a scar bothersome, and therefore plenty of reasons to want to have something in your practice to address this!
Which treatment suits my practice?
Although unfortunately there is no technique that can completely remove scars, laser treatments can significantly reduce scars and make them less noticeable. But which treatment is most suitable for each individual situation? Here are some popular options:
- CO2 lasers (e.g. Slim Evolution II): These lasers are ideal for treating scars. They stimulate the production of new skin cells and collagen, making scars less visible.
- Er:YAG laser technology: Highly effective for treating scars, with precise ablation that improves skin texture and smooths scars. Read more here. Er:YAG lasers.
- Microdermabrasion: This technique is ideal for superficial and medium deep scars. It gently removes the upper layers of the skin, improving the skin structure and making scars less noticeable. With full control over the depth of the dermabrasion, the treatment can be precisely tailored to the patient's needs.
