Alexandrite laser
What is an Alexandrite laser?
For some time, Alexandrite (others also write it as Alexandrite) lasers have been on the market. This is a low-wavelength laser that can therefore be used well for lighter skin types.
The Gentlease Pro-u Alexandrite laser
We are Dalton Medical and we supply surgical and cosmetic laser equipment to professionals. Naturally, we also have a high-quality Alexandrite laser in our range, namely the GentleMax Pro from Candela Medical. This laser works with a wavelength of 755nm. A diode laser has a wavelength of 810nm and a Nd:YAG laser a wavelength of 1064nm. Compared to diode & other lasers, the Alexandrite laser has a lower wavelength, giving a good response to colour in the skin. Due to its extremely high absorption, the Alexandrite laser is only suitable for lighter skin types, I - III (maximum IV).
Alexandrite laser for hair removal
For light skin types, the Alexandrite laser is the most suitable laser, as it has enough pigment absorption to properly treat even the thinner and lighter hairs. The higher the wavelength of a laser, the more difficult it is to treat this hair and skin type. The Alxandrite laser is therefore still the number one in this.
Alexandrite laser for pigment
The Alexandrite laser is great for removing age spots, sun damage and certain pigmentation. This is because the 755nm wavelength can see the pigment in the epidermis and/or upper skin layer the very best. Hair and skin types I-III (maximum IV) also apply to this treatment.
Alexandrite laser for vascular indications
The Alexandrite laser has some absorption in blood, making it possibly possible to treat vessels in, for example, the face. Because blood and vessels are deeper in the skin, a laser with a higher wavelength, such as a Nd:YAG laser (GentleYag Pro-U & GentleMax Pro), sometimes more appropriate. With the GentleYag Pro-U or GentleMax Pro Nd:YAG laser is possible to treat leg vessels and also deeper lying vessels on the body.
